Neck stretching (head turning)

Neck stretching - is a warm-up and is performed in an Easy Pose (Sukhasana):




  • Turn your head up and look at the ceiling.
  • Turn your head down, “Chin to Chest”, look down. Repeat.
  • Turn your head to the left.
  • Turn your head to the right. Repeat.



  • Gently lower your chin to relax the back of your neck (the only area that is bent is your neck).
  • Lower your right ear down towards your shoulder.
  • Hold for 2 seconds.
  • Return upright.
  • Repeat “Ear to Shoulder” on the other side.
  • Rest for 2 seconds and repeat the turns two more times.
  • Clockwise head rotation – twice.
  • Counterclockwise head rotation – twice.
