Is 50 to old to start Yoga? My answer is NO, of course not. Whatever is your age you can start yoga at any time. However, don't wait until you are 50, 60 or 70. The sooner you start the better, even if you are at the best shape of your life.
Of course, if you are over 50, going to any yoga class may not be such a great idea. If you go to the class you will try to keep up with the others and/or even impress them. And that may lead to an injury. So, you have to ease into yoga. Do it for 5-10-15 minutes in the morning even if you plan to "hit" a gym in the afternoon. Morning stretch can go a long way.
Start slowly. First week - 5-8 minutes. Second and third week 10 minutes and so on.
Need help? Next week I will start a series of posts that will walk you through a whole one-year program of getting used to yoga. It's gonna be fun. Have your coffee and mat ready.
